My gravel pad settled 2 inches in one winter, here's what fixed it

Put in a 12x16 shed pad last fall and by spring the corners were sinking bad. Turns out I skimped on the base layer, only went 3 inches deep with crushed rock. Dug it out, added 6 inches of road base and compacted in lifts, no movement after two heavy rains. Anyone else deal with frost heave on their first try?
