Serious question, did a guy at the Fontana Home Depot really talk me out of using pressure treated lumber for my raised garden beds?
He told me the chemicals leach into the soil and my tomatoes would taste like a swimming pool, so now I'm second guessing every board I've cut this weekend and wondering if anyone else has heard that same warning or if he was just messing with me.
Depends on the wood honestly. Older pressure treated had arsenic in it and that stuff was legit bad news for food gardens. Newer stuff is mostly copper based and the leaching is pretty low, a lot of folks grow in it fine. But the guy wasn't totally making it up either, some studies show a little copper gets into the soil over time. If you already cut the boards I'd probably just line the inside with plastic and call it good.
