That stretch of 5 days last May where every single project went sideways

I was building a simple 8x10 deck in my backyard and the first day I cut a support beam 4 inches too short because I grabbed the wrong measurement off my tape. Then the auger hit a buried rock the size of a washing machine on day 3, and by day 5 my pressure washer blew a seal so I had to clean all the old wood with a scrub brush. Has anyone else had a week where the universe just decided you weren't building anything?

Gotta ask - did you double check that tape measure after you cut the beam? Ive made a similar mistake before and it turned out my tape measure was actually off by like 1/8 of an inch right at the hook end where it connects. Its a common thing that messes people up but most folks dont realize it. Also that buried rock thing is just brutal. My neighbor hit one last summer and it bent his auger bit so bad he had to buy a whole new one. You sure the rock was natural or could it have been old foundation rubble from a previous deck?
