A quick heads up for anyone with a flock in a wet climate like mine near Seattle

Last week, after three days of heavy rain, I found my favorite hen, Mabel, looking weak and discovered she had a nasty case of bumblefoot that I'd missed because her feet were always muddy, so please check your birds' feet carefully after wet weather and has anyone else dealt with this?

Tbh I keep a towel by the coop door to wipe feet down after heavy rain. Makes it way easier to spot any issues early.

Oh man, that's a good reminder. It makes me think of my old rooster, Bert. He got a cut on his foot I didn't see for ages because of the mud. By the time I found it, it was a whole mess to clean up. I felt terrible. Now I try to do a quick check when I put them up at night, even if it's just a glance.
