Always thought fermented chicken feed was just a fad until I tried it last fall

I was skeptical of all the online hype about fermented feed for better egg quality, but after 3 months of trying it with my 6 hens, the yolks are noticeably darker and the shells feel thicker. Has anyone else seen a real difference in their flock, or am I just imagining it?

Oh man, how long are you fermenting yours? I tried it for 2 weeks and didn't see much difference in shells, but maybe I'm doing it wrong or not waiting long enough.

Ha yeah I used to roll my eyes at the whole fermented shell thing honestly. I thought it was just crunchy internet hype with no real payoff. But I gave it a real shot this summer and I gotta say it actually made a noticeable difference in my garden soil after about 4 weeks. The shells break down way faster and my plants seemed to perk up more than when I just tossed crushed shells in. So yeah I'm a believer now even though I was super skeptical before.
