I dropped $75 on a heated chicken waterer in January and it froze solid anyway
Bought one of those plastic heated waterers from a farm store in Fort Worth right before that cold snap hit last winter. Temps dropped to 11 degrees overnight and the cord was so short I had to run an extension cord across the yard, which tripped the breaker twice. By morning the water was a solid block and my six hens were pecking at ice while I stood there in my pajamas feeling like a fool. A $12 rubber bowl I swap out twice a day has never let me down since. Anyone found a heated setup that actually holds up below 20 degrees, or is swapping bowls really the way to go?
