Medicated starter vs plain feed for spring chicks, here's what I picked
Starting my first brooder batch of 12 chicks last March and had to choose between medicated starter and plain feed from the feed store. I went with plain because my hens are on pasture and I read too much about coccidiosis resistance. Three weeks in, two chicks got pasty butt and I panicked, but clean water and apple cider vinegar fixed it. Anyone else skip medicated feed and regret or feel fine about it?
