Wasted $85 on those 'eggstra' nesting pads from the farm store

Bought a pack of 12 fancy foam nesting pads thinking my hens would love them. First week they pecked them to pieces. By day 10 they were shredded and covered in poop. Had to throw the whole lot out and switch back to pine shavings. Anyone else get burned by expensive nesting box gimmicks?

Used to think those fancy pads were the way to go myself. Saw a buddy's setup with them and they looked real clean, figured my girls deserved the upgrade. But within a week mine were shredded too, just like yours. They started picking at the foam for whatever reason and it was game over. Went back to plain old pine shavings and never looked back. That $85 lesson stung but at least I know better now.
