Just realized the $30 miter box cut cleaner trim than my buddy's power saw on the Topeka porch job
Helped my buddy redo his porch trim in Topeka and he laughed at my old miter box until I showed him the corners. I got tight seams on all four outside corners on the first try and his power saw left a 1/16 inch gap on two of them that he had to fill with caulk. My take is a hand saw gives you time to line up the cut and the saw just rips through before you can stop it, but he swears the saw was faster and I just got lucky on soft wood. What do you all think, is a hand miter box still worth it for finish work or am I just too cheap to buy a good saw?
