My garage shelves survived 80 pounds of paint cans, then died from one bag of concrete
Built these 2x4 shelves in my garage 7 weeks ago and felt like a genius, held paint cans, tool boxes, all my junk no problem. Last Saturday I slid one 80lb bag of concrete mix on the end and the whole left side sagged like 3 inches, brackets pulled right out of the studs. My neighbor who does framing for a living came over, poked it, and said 'you put the screws in the drywall, not the studs, huh.' Now I'm stuck arguing with myself: do I rip it all down and reframe it right, or just add a middle leg and pretend it never happened? What's the call here, fix it right or brace it and move on?
