Serious question, why does everyone mount garage door brackets into drywall and call it done?
I keep seeing this on installs around Boise, guys shoot the flag bracket into the drywall with two 1 inch screws and the whole track hangs off it. That thing has to hold 200 lbs of door and spring tension, and drywall won't do it, I watched a door in Meridian drop out of the track after 8 months because of exactly this. Am I wrong for wanting to open the wall and hit the king stud every single time, or is there a bracket out there that actually makes this work?
