Rant: my roommate's 3AM critique actually fixed my chili game
My roommate Dave told me I was over-stirring the pot every time I made chili, said I was killing the texture. I laughed it off for two weeks, then tried his way, just letting it sit low and slow for 45 minutes between stirs. Honestly it came out thicker and the beans didn't fall apart. But now I wonder if he was just being picky or if he actually knows what he's talking about. Has anyone else had a roommate give cooking advice that turned out to be spot on, or did you dig your heels in and regret it later?
Tried the same thing with my stew and it turned out way better. Sometimes the annoying roommate is right, even if you want to throw the pot at them at 3AM.
