My cousin's one liner about my gutters was annoyingly accurate

He told me at a July 4th cookout in Toledo that my downspout angle was trash and would wreck my foundation by spring. I ignored him, and sure enough, that $200 fix turned into $1,400 in basement seepage after the first thaw. Anyone else get burned by family advice they brushed off as nagging?
