My coworker said my lunch looked sad and it messed with my head more than I expected
I have been meal prepping the same thing for like six months now - grilled chicken, rice, and broccoli in a plastic container. It's efficient, it hits my macros, and honestly I just don't care that much about food variety. But last Thursday my new coworker Jenna glanced over at my lunch and goes 'oh honey, that looks so sad and lonely' and laughed. I brushed it off but it kept bouncing around my brain all day. Like, is it actually sad? Am I the one being weird by turning eating into a chore? She eats this elaborate bento box thing every day with little cute compartments and she told me she spends 30 minutes just arranging it. I never once thought about presentation mattering for a meal just for myself. Has anyone else had a random comment like that totally flip how you see a normal thing you do?
