I was reading an article online about job market trends and it said the average time someone stays in a job with no growth is five years. That number really hit me. I've been at my call center job for three years and eight months now, and I can feel myself getting close to that mark. The article said it's often because of fear of change or just getting comfortable with the routine, even if you hate it. I think about my own situation, and it's true. The health insurance is okay, and the drive is short. But I'm not learning anything new, and my pay has gone up maybe a dollar total since I started. It's weird to see your own life reflected in a statistic like that. It makes me wonder, what finally pushes people to make a move after hitting that five year point?
