That time my credit report showed a paid-off car loan from 2012 as 'open'

It was a Tuesday morning in Chicago, and I was checking my score before applying for a new card. My score had dropped 40 points overnight. I called the credit bureau and they said the old loan was still reporting as active. I had to mail them a copy of the final payment receipt from my bank to get it fixed. Has anyone else had a closed account randomly pop back up like that?

My bank froze my account for a $200 check deposit and it took 10 days to fix

Oh man, I had this exact problem last month... my local credit union finally just took it after I went inside and talked to a teller. They said mobile deposit often kicks small checks back from older accounts... it's a fraud thing. I had to show my ID and endorse it right in front of them. Maybe try going in person if the app keeps saying no.

A customer at the shop last week asked me to cut a pork shoulder into 1-inch cubes for stew, then told me his grandma always said the secret was to leave a little fat on each piece.

Guess my stews are greasy then, because I can't bring myself to trim it all.
