The bench scraper I ignored for 3 years finally won me over

I used to just use a spatula to portion my cookie dough, thought bench scrapers were for fancy bakers only. Then last month I was making a double batch for a school fundraiser and the dough kept sticking to everything, cleanup took forever. My sister shoved her old plastic one in my hands and made me try it for cutting and lifting the dough sections. It cut my prep time from like 40 minutes down to 25 and now I grab it every single time, even for simple stuff. Anyone else have a tool they swore off for no good reason and then couldn't live without?

...and you know what, this makes me think about my old garlic press. I refused to use one for years because I thought it was a pain to clean and you could just mince garlic with a knife. Then my neighbor bought me one of those twisty kind for my birthday and now it's permanently sitting on my counter. It's silly because it's not like it saves me a ton of time, but there's something about not smelling like garlic for two hours after dinner that changed everything for me. Maybe it's the same thing with your scraper, you just got used to doing things the hard way and didn't realize the easier path was sitting right in the drawer.
