Brokerages finally made transferring worth it after 3 months of fighting my bank

I kept my savings at a big regional bank for 12 years because moving felt like a hassle. Then I tried to wire money for a house closing in Austin and they hit me with a $35 fee plus a 2-day hold. My realtor laughed and said just use a brokerage account with a free wire. I opened one at Fidelity, transferred the cash, and the wire went out same day for zero. Three months later I moved my checking too because the ATM rebates cover my travel fees. Has anyone else dumped their bank after one bad wire or closing experience?
