Popped into a Chase branch in Austin last Tuesday and felt like I walked into a coffee shop

I needed to deposit a $750 check from my mom's birthday and figured I'd hit the bank since I was right there. Walked in and there's a barista making lattes and like 4 empty teller windows with nobody behind them. Some robo-advisor kiosk thing in the corner but no actual banker to ask about their CD rates. Had to wait 12 minutes for one person to come out from the back. Meanwhile my Fidelity account lets me deposit a check in 30 seconds from my couch. Has anyone else noticed banks turning into lifestyle stores instead of places to handle money?

Had a buddy tell me last month he walked into his local bank to close an account and they tried to hand him a free cold brew on the way in. Said there were like five employees standing near this little lounge area with couches and a bookshelf that looked like something out of a catalog. Meanwhile he stood there for ten minutes before someone finally acknowledged him. Ended up just leaving the account open out of frustration and handles everything through his phone now. Reminds me of how car dealerships have those fancy play areas for kids but you can't get a price without playing phone tag for three days.

Read something similar about coffee shop banks. @the_seth nailed how fake the vibe is.
