Showerthought: the old broker trick of calling at 4:55 PM on a Friday
Back in 2010, I was trying to get a rate lock for a client in Phoenix and the bank kept putting me on hold. My manager told me to call the direct line of the bank's loan officer at 4:55 PM, right before they left for the weekend. Got the lock confirmed in under five minutes because they just wanted to go home. Does that kind of timing still work now, or are systems too automated?

Call at 4:55 on a Friday? That feels like ancient history. Everything's an online portal now, you just get an automated email. I doubt a human even sees it until Monday.
