Update: I paid $175 for a bank advisor sit down and it saved me almost $900 in fees
So about 5 months back I finally sat down with a bank advisor at my local branch in Columbus because I was tired of getting hit with fees every month. The sit down cost me $175 out of pocket, which felt steep at the time. But she went through my statements line by line and found I was paying $38 a month in maintenance charges plus a $4.95 paper statement fee stacked on top of overdraft stuff I did not even notice. That is $515 a year just bleeding out for basically nothing. She set me up with a basic checking setup and even helped me move some savings, and my fee total dropped to about $3 a month. My old broker guy wanted a percentage of everything I had just to move it around, and the bank did it for a flat $175 once. If you are getting nickel and dimed every month, go pay for the sit down, it paid for itself in under 6 months for me. Did anyone else do a paid review like this or did you just switch banks cold?
