Pro tip: don't pay $200 for a rush wire transfer

I needed to move $500 for a rental deposit on a Friday afternoon and my bank charged me $35 for a wire, but a third-party service online charged me $200 and it took 3 days anyway. Has anyone else gotten burned by those "instant" money transfer sites that are anything but?

Did you check if your bank has a same-day wire option? Chase did mine for $25 and the money was there in a few hours. Sucks you got stuck with that $200 fee, those third-party sites are basically a scam for anything time-sensitive.

Roll with the same day wire next time for sure man... I learned that lesson the hard way too with a closing date. Those third party sites are just middlemen taking a cut for nothing really. Banks have had that service for years now. Just gotta ask the right person at the branch sometimes.
