inA visit to the Pima Air & Space Museum made me rethink old composite repair methods
Read an article about a B-52 that came back from a deployment with a sheet metal patch riveted over a hole in the wing. It was supposed to be temporary, but they flew it like that for another twenty years before someone finally did a proper repair. Sometimes the quick fix is the right fix.

inFinally got my old garage door opener to work after a week of trying
That nylon gear thing is a cheap fix but it's also a planned weak point. I've seen people replace them with metal gears from third party sellers, which sounds good until you realize the motor wasn't meant for that. The next thing to fail won't be a fifteen dollar gear, it'll be the whole motor.

inUpdate: I tried a new flower food mix and my white roses turned blue
Wait, blue roses? That's wild. My cousin's hydrangeas went pink once from weird soil stuff, but never roses.

inRemember when a decent stand mixer was a huge investment?
A stand mixer is just a motor with a bowl. My grandma used a hand mixer for 50 years. It feels like we call things "investments" now just because they're expensive. A good toaster oven gets used way more often and nobody talks about that.
