PSA: I was paying my credit card twice a cycle because of how my bank showed pending charges
For about 8 months I kept logging into my banking app and seeing my card balance still showing the full amount, so I would send another payment from my checking account at Chase, thinking the first one never went through. Turned out the app was showing pending payments separately and I was basically handing them an extra $400 to $600 a month that just sat there as a credit balance, which I only caught when a teller asked why I had a negative balance on the card. Does anyone know if there is a setting to make pending payments show up in the main balance, or do I just have to wait a day before paying?

I read somewhere that most bank apps treat pending payments as a separate line so the main balance stays "available" until it clears. Waiting a day is usually the move, but you can also just screenshot the pending screen so future you doesn't panic pay again.
