Library lady said a challenged title was 'just a parent thing' and I had to pull the actual form
Honestly I keep seeing people mix up a parent complaining and a formal challenge, and it changes everything about how a removal gets handled. Last month at our library in Boise a woman told me a title got pulled because one parent sent an email, but when I asked for the reconsideration form there were 11 signatures and a 3 page list attached. A single complaint usually gets a written reply and nothing else, while a formal challenge goes to a review group and can take 60 days or more. Knowing which one you are dealing with tells you if there is a public meeting to show up to or just a form to fill out. I learned this after watching a title get quietly moved to a back shelf for 4 months with no record at all. Has anyone else seen a library treat an email like a full challenge and skip the review step?
