inThat spreadsheet my boss made for tracking our hours has a formula error that's been underpaying 4 of us by about $150 a month since February.
Wait, did your boss actually try to pull that "corrected hours" BS after you showed him the log? Something similar happened to my buddy at a warehouse job, they "found" a policy nobody had ever seen before. garcia.casey's point about the proof is solid. That $150 a month adds up. I'd keep copies of everything offsite too.

inNgl I was shocked to learn my favorite torque wrench was off by 12 ft-lbs after 6 years of use
That 12 ft-lbs low on the high end is a pretty big swing. Did the shop tell you if it was just wear on the internal spring or something else causing the drift? I figure six years of use would wear out the spring, but I didn't think it would be that far off.

inContractors who skip the permit process are asking for trouble
Add to that - even if you get away with it for years, it screws you when you sell. Buyers' lenders will flag anything that looks off in the appraisal. Then you're stuck discounting the house or scrambling for retro permits while under contract. Your uncle's lucky he only lost $1,800 in fees. I've seen guys have to tear out entire illegal apartments and just eat the cost. Insurance won't cover anything either if they find out you hid unpermitted work in a fire or flood. Whole thing's a gamble that almost never pays off.

inFinally finished that one anime I've been slogging through for 6 months
Man, 110 episodes is a commitment for a show that doesn't grab you.

inGot a half inch end mill stuck in a block of aluminum yesterday
Yeah @davis.dakota nailed it, light cuts with big tools just flex and grab.
