Shoutout to the $60 swamp cooler "tune up" kit that did nothing for my roof unit
Last June I paid $60 for one of those swamp cooler tune up kits at the hardware store on Montgomery, the one with pads, a spider gasket, and some pan treatment tabs. I figured it would get my old roof unit blowing cold again since it was barely moving air. It did not. The pads it came with were thinner than the ones already on there, and the spider gasket split after two days, so the whole thing leaked down my wall and stained the stucco. Turns out the real problem was the belt and a clogged water line, which cost me $18 at the same store. So I spent about $60 and a Saturday on the roof for nothing, plus whatever the stain cleanup is gonna run me. Has anyone found a kit that actually fits an old mastercool, or am I better off just buying parts one at a time?
