Spent $40 on a banned books tote bag from a site that turned out to be a dropshipper, and I feel like a clown
I found this tote bag with a quote from "The Handmaid's Tale" printed on it and thought it would be a nice way to show support for banned books at my library's read-in event last month. The site looked legit, had a nice story about supporting free speech, and charged me $40 plus $6 shipping for what turned out to be a $3 bag from a wholesale site with my quote slapped on it. It showed up 3 weeks late, the print was already peeling, and when I tried to return it the contact email bounced back. I know it is a small amount of money, but it bugs me that someone is using the banned books thing to make a quick buck off people who actually care about this stuff. Has anyone found a shop that sells this kind of thing where the money actually goes somewhere real?
