Warning: My school board yanked 'The Hate U Give' from the 10th grade list and I showed up to the next meeting with 22 signatures
I was sitting in the back row of the district office in Mesa two Tuesdays ago when a board member said the book was 'too much for kids' and nobody in the room had actually finished it. I stood up, read one page out loud, and asked them to point at the part that was too much, and they tabled the vote until next month. What do you all bring to these meetings when they have not even cracked the spine?
