Old timer told me to stop sharpening my clippers so often, he was right

I used to run my clipper blades over the sharpening stone every single Sunday, thought it kept things fresh. This retired barber from Toledo, name's Sal, watched me do it last month and just shook his head. He said I was grinding away the factory edge and making blades duller faster, that I only needed it every 6 to 8 weeks depending on how many heads I do. I've done about 80 cuts since he told me that, and honestly the blades feel smoother and I'm not fighting with them mid-fade. Has anyone else been over-sharpening and seen it mess with their blade alignment?
