Question about a stubborn fade line from a client's dad

A client's father, a retired barber from Chicago, told me to use my clipper at a 45 degree angle, not straight on, to blend a tough line on a coarse hair fade. I tried it on a guy last Friday who always gets that line, and it worked perfectly in one pass. I'd been struggling with that for months using my usual method. Has anyone else gotten a random tip from a client that actually fixed a problem?

I always thought that was just an old barber tale, but it actually works.

My buddy Dave had a crazy ingrown hair on his neck for weeks. He tried everything, then his barber told him to put a hot, wet tea bag on it. Dave laughed but did it, and the swelling was gone in two days. It's wild how those old tricks stick around for a reason. @jana_price, your post made me think of him right away. What other barber tips have people heard that actually work?
