Warning: Don't try a new clipper blade right before your busiest day

I bought a fresh set of Fade blades last Tuesday. Put them on Wednesday morning. Big mistake. Walked into the shop in Austin at 9am and had 8 people booked back to back. That first head started buzzing and the blade was skipping like crazy. Had to stop mid-fade and swap back to my old blade. Anybody else had a new tool mess up their whole schedule?

I used to run new blades straight out the box without a problem, but after a similar nightmare with a fresh shaver head on a Saturday that cost me three haircuts, I'm now a believer in breaking them in on a slow day first.

Funny you mention that, @jakef66. I had a buddy who thought he could save time by using a brand new set of blades on a packed Friday afternoon. He ended up with a guy who wanted a skin fade and it looked like a lawnmower hit his head. Took him an extra forty minutes to clean it up and the customer left with a free trim coupon. He learned the hard way that new blades have a little too much bite.
