Bought a $60 chain tool back in 2009 and it's still the best money I ever put into my box
I remember standing in the shop back in 2009, and the older guy I worked with kept saying to just buy the nicer chain breaker instead of the $15 one from the big catalog. I finally caved and put down around $60 for a Park CT-3.2, which felt like a lot of money back then when I was making $11 an hour. The cheap ones kept bending pins and I'd end up fighting with a stiff link for 20 minutes on every tune up, and that got old fast. That one tool has probably pushed a few thousand chains by now and the pin is still straight, plus it has never once rounded out on me. I see new guys roll in with the bargain breaker and then wonder why their shifting is crunchy after a chain swap, and I try not to be that annoying old dude about it. What is the one tool you spent real money on early that still earns its keep in your box?
