Tried seating tubeless with a floor pump on a 29er and got way more air than I wanted
So last Saturday I was in my garage in Boise trying to set up a Maxxis tire on my own rim because I was too cheap to drive to the shop and use their compressor. I figured if I pulled the valve core and pumped like crazy it would pop on fine, but the bead never caught and I just kept dumping air into the tire, which blew off the rim and sprayed sealant all over my jeans and the wall. I spent 40 minutes cleaning that white goop off everything and then just drove to the shop anyway. Learned that a floor pump works sometimes but not when the bead is loose and you skipped the strap trick. Do you guys use a strap around the tire or just give up and grab the compressor every time?
