Unpopular opinion: Owners who hire mechanics with no real passion just to save cash are wrecking shops

Our new hire barely knows how to true a wheel but got the job because he works for less. It drags down the whole team when we have to redo his mess on customer bikes. Do you think this cheap strategy actually keeps a shop running in the long run?

It kills your reputation when bikes come back messed up. Customers won't return after a bad experience.

Saw my buddy's bike come back from a tune-up with new scratches. He told everyone he knows not to go there.

My local shop has a policy where they take pictures of every bike before they even touch it. They showed me the folder once, it's a solid system. A couple scratches could have been there before and the owner just didn't notice. I'd want to know if the shop was given a chance to explain before my friend blasted them to everyone.
