Update on that seized seatpost I mentioned

After soaking it in penetrating oil for a full week, I gave it a solid twist with a long pipe wrench. It finally broke free, and the inside of the tube was just caked in old, dry grease. Has anyone else found a better method for really stuck posts?

I used to swear by ammonia for stuck posts, but a week of penetrating oil like you did saved my old Peugeot. Zarapalmer's story about cutting the frame is exactly what I wanted to avoid. That slow soak method really changed my mind.

My old Schwinn had a post so stuck we had to cut the frame... still have the scar from that hack saw.
