Just learned the Seinfeld finale pulled 76 million viewers, more than the moon landing, and I feel like I missed the last real TV event
I was reading an old TV ratings list on my phone at 1am last Tuesday and saw that the Seinfeld finale in 1998 got around 76 million viewers, which is more than the 1969 moon landing at roughly 650 million worldwide but only like 125 million in the US. I sat there trying to figure out what the last thing was that made basically everyone I know sit down at the same time on the same night. My sister texted me during the Super Bowl this year and I had it on in the background while folding laundry. It feels like we traded one big shared night for 40 different shows on 6 different apps. What was the last show where you actually knew when and where everyone else was watching it?
