Tried binging Breaking Bad after finishing The Wire and it felt like a completely different planet

I mean don't get me wrong, Breaking Bad is good TV. But I spent 5 weeks on The Wire and every episode had like 15 characters and a city wide story. Then I jump to Breaking Bad and it's basically one guy making decisions in a desert. The pacing felt so much slower even though more stuff explodes. Has anyone else had a show get ruined for them just because they watched something bigger first?

You watched the most densely packed HBO crime epic ever made and then jumped to "mad scientist has a midlife crisis in the desert" and expected the same feeling? That's like reading War and Peace and then picking up a grocery list and complaining there aren't enough characters. The Wire gives you a whole ecosystem of cops, drug dealers, politicians, and dock workers. Breaking Bad gives you Walter White yelling at a fly for twenty minutes. Both are great but they're not even in the same league of complexity.

a grocery list" is harsh man, come on. I love The Wire too but Breaking Bad is more like a really good novel about one guy going off the rails. Not everything needs to be a whole city census to be great.
