inMy $50 silicone liner turned my air fryer into a smoke machine
Those silicone liners are a gimmick, plain and simple. The heat from the air fryer gets trapped differently than the manual claims, and you end up with melted messes like you described. A bit of parchment paper cut to size does the same job for pennies and without the toxic smoke. The only thing I use that resembles a liner now is a small oven-safe tray that sits below the basket. Honestly, saving ten minutes of scrubbing isn't worth an apartment full of fumes. Better to just soak the basket and spend the extra minute with a sponge.

inThe birthday party I planned got taken over by my friend's kids
okay but hold on, did you actually tell Sarah you wanted no kids there? like, the second she said "family thing" you shouldve been like "wait no, i meant just us adults." i get not wanting to be rude but letting it slide silently kinda told everyone it was fine lol. also, a good friend who knows you well wouldve checked first before making it a whole different event. im not saying youre wrong to be annoyed, just that the boundary needs to be set before the invites go out, not after you're already at the pizza place. next time just be blunt, "hey this is a no kids thing, i need a break" and if people get weird about it, theyre not really respecting your birthday anyway.

inPSA: stop stripping coax with your teeth, I learned the hard way in Tulsa
Cringed reading this because I’ve done the exact same thing, except it was with a pair of pliers I was too lazy to grab. Bit a chunk out of a line and then spent the whole afternoon fighting with a crimper that kept slipping. The customer just stood there sipping their coffee, not saying a word, but that silence was way worse than any look. I still catch myself bringing cable up to my mouth out of pure habit like some sort of raccoon. Took me three busted fittings and a bloody lip before I finally taped a cutter to my workbelt. You’re not the only former animal, trust me.

inTorque wrench calibration caught my A320 brake job before it bit me
Torque wrenches don't read high from age, they read low, so your 82 could've been worse than you think. Good catch on checking it, but maybe bump that calibration reminder up to every 6 months if you're doing brake jobs.

inThat one critique about my chili that still stings 3 years later
Oh honey, three main flavors is still a lot for chili, beef should be doing all the talking!
