Why does nobody warn you about second season drops?

Seen it three times now. Shows like The Feed and Glitch had killer first seasons, then fell apart by episode 4 of season 2. The writers clearly ran out of plot. I binged season 1 in one night back in October, felt cheated by Thanksgiving. Has anyone else noticed this pattern with specific shows on streaming?
