inThat canceled author from last year didn't deserve the pile-on
Yeah that's the thing that gets me... a friend of mine runs a local book club and she actually tried to watch that author's apology video the day it dropped, but nobody else in the group would even click the link. They all just shared the screenshot of the joke out of context and moved on. She said the video was pretty genuine too, the author admitted it was poorly timed but explained the whole thing clearly. But by then the damage was done, the story had already spread to three different subreddits with the full context stripped out. It's like people just want the rush of being right without actually checking if they are.

inHit 50 countries as a digital nomad last month and it messed with my head way more than I expected
So @violafox is right that hitting that number without feeling anything is kind of a wake-up call, huh? I really feel you on that spreadsheet thing - tracking milestones can make you lose sight of why you started in the first place.

My buddy in Colorado tried that and his magnetometer readings were all over the place, @kelly.keith.

inMy Sierra High Route trip was a total disaster thanks to one section
Man oh man, you nailed it. I ended up on that exact same route a couple years back and thought I was being clever saving time. Turned into a whole day of me questioning every life choice that got me there. The scramble sections were no joke, I remember gripping rocks so hard my fingers were sore for days after. It's wild how one wrong turn can send you down something that looks fine on a map but turns into a nightmare in real life. I was lucky the weather held, I can't imagine trying that when the rocks are wet, that would be a whole other level of bad time. Glad you made it through too, those "survived" stories are always the best ones to tell later.

inThe local hardware store gave me a different price than the sign said, so I walked out
I waited at a coffee shop once for 20 minutes past the time they said they'd be open. Finally I just walked in and asked the barista if they could flip the sign over. She laughed and said the owner forgot to change it before leaving. So I got my coffee, no big deal. Sometimes people just don't notice the little stuff. Next time you might try just asking whoever's around, they usually don't mind fixing it.
