The weekend I took 14 cake orders and almost walked out of my own kitchen
Last Saturday I had 14 custom cakes lined up for a wedding expo in Tulsa, thought I had it all planned out. By noon the oven thermometer was reading 50 degrees off, my buttercream split twice, and one bride changed her design completely while I was mid-crumb coat. Part of me thinks doing the volume was the mistake, but the other part says I just got unlucky with prep and equipment. Anyone else have a day where the chaos made you question if big orders are even worth it?
Ugh, that sounds like a total nightmare, I'd have been crying in the walk-in for sure. Honestly 14 custom cakes in one weekend is a lot even when everything goes right, so don't be too hard on yourself.
