Took 4 months to figure out my anvil was ringing because of the stand
Picked up a used anvil last spring, 150 pounder. Sounded like a bell every hit. Drove me nuts. Tried chains, magnets, rubber mats. Nothing worked. Finally my neighbor who welds came over and said the stand was the problem. Solid oak base but no give. Swapped it for a steel tripod with sand in the legs. Ring is gone. Wish I asked someone sooner. Anyone else deal with a ringing anvil for way too long?
