Vent: burned through 6 firebricks in one week trying to forge weld in a wood stove
So last Tuesday I decided I'd forge weld a billet in my buddy's old wood stove because my propane forge was out of gas and the shop was 15 degrees. First attempt the flux ate through the firebrick like butter, second attempt I cracked two more cramming the billet in at an angle, and by Friday I had gone through 6 bricks and one really mad friend. Turns out the stove couldn't hold heat past 1,800 degrees and I was basically making expensive gravel. What's your go-to hack when the gas runs out and you get that itch to hammer something?
