inI finally checked out that new barber school in Sacramento
Man I read an article about this exact thing! It was talking about how straight razor shaves are making a comeback as a special treat, like a fancy dinner out. It's not for every day, but some guys really want that old school experience. Calling it a waste of time misses the point, it's about the craft and the whole vibe. Those 40 hours are probably why it feels so good when it's done right.

inCan we talk about how many people still use the wrong size wire nuts?
Orange ones work fine if you twist hard enough.

inTIL my neighbor's 4 year old kid understands my SEO problem better than my client
How do you even start that conversation without sounding like you're making things up? I've pulled up charts and used the whole "house needs a strong frame" analogy, and it still feels like talking to a wall sometimes. It's so frustrating when the logic is that simple, like the kid with the blocks, but they just won't hear it until the numbers tank. Solidarity, man, that traffic drop is the only teacher some clients will listen to.

inMy writing group prompt went sideways in the best way
Ever try to write a grocery list with a crayon? It's all downhill from there.

inHeard a guy at the con in Cleveland say 'real fans only read the classics' and it got me thinking about how we define being a fan.
That guy at the Cleveland con sounds like he's trying to sell a membership to a club nobody asked for. Getting told you're not a real fan because you haven't read some specific comic from 1978 is just a boring way to gatekeep. If you care about the characters and the world, that's what matters, not how you got there. I've seen people get into amazing stories through a video game who then go read everything they can find, and that's just as valid as any other path.
