Why does nobody mention checking your anvil's rebound before you blame your hammer
I was grinding the face of my hammer flat for the third time in a month because my strikes kept glancing off, and my buddy Dale walked over and dropped a small ball bearing on the anvil. It bounced back maybe 30 percent, which is way low, and he said that dead face in my 150 lb Peter Wright was the real problem, not my swing. I swapped to a different anvil and my hammer control went night and day better in one session. What do you all use to check rebound, just a bearing or something else?
