My $70 card holder was a total dud at game night...

I went all out and bought this fancy leather card holder for $70 because I was tired of bending my cards during games. First night using it at a friend's place, the elastic snapped and all my Dominion cards went flying across the table. Everyone laughed, but I was just embarrassed. Has anyone else had a board game accessory totally fail them when it mattered?

Yeah exactly, I've seen too many people drop cash on fancy accessories and end up with the same problems. A cheap plastic box or even a simple zip bag works way better because it actually fits the cards and protects them. If the gear can't survive the first game night it's worthless no matter how good it looks.

Grabbed one of those cheap plastic deck boxes from a local game shop for like $8 after my nice card holder gave out. It's nothing fancy but it keeps everything tight and organized, no snaps or rips. Honestly, I learned that utility trumps looks for game night stuff. Maybe try a rubber band wrapped around a simple cardboard box if you want to save money, that's what I did before I got the plastic one.
