The heirloom game table hinge that snapped right before game night

My dad's old oak table has hosted our Friday group for 20 years, but last week the hinge on the fold-out leaf cracked clean through during setup. It failed at 6:30 PM with seven people already heading over, so I had to improvise with a stack of hardcover rulebooks under the loose edge. We played three rounds of Ticket to Ride before someone finally asked why the table tilted every time I leaned on it. I spent the next morning at a hardware place in Tacoma trying to match the 4-inch brass hinge, no luck, they only had modern ones. Has anyone else had an old piece of furniture give up mid-session and what did you do to keep the game alive?
