Update: I used to skip rule explanations, but now I see their value.
Taking time to learn rules upfront makes every game night smoother.

Build strong foundations first, saves so much time later.

Totally! I've noticed this same thing applies to so much stuff, not just games. Like learning the basic settings on a new phone or reading a recipe all the way through before you start cooking. That little bit of time upfront always saves me from a bigger headache later. It feels like a shortcut that actually works.

Actually, this reminds me of when I tried to put together a bookshelf without looking at the manual. Had all the pieces laid out, thought I could wing it, and ended up with extra bolts and a wobbly mess. Spent an hour fixing it, but if I'd just spent five minutes reading the steps, it would've been done right the first time. Now I always check the instructions, even for stuff that seems obvious.
