Can we talk about how fire brick quality has gone downhill?

I've been laying fire brick for 15 years now and I swear the stuff we get today just doesn't hold up like it used to. Last month I replaced a furnace lining that was installed in 2006 and those old bricks still had sharp corners on them. The new pallet I got from the supplier had 12 bricks that were already chipped before I even touched them. Has anyone else noticed this or did I just get a bad batch?

Honestly, it's not just fire bricks, it's everything now. Tbh, I see the same thing with tools and appliances - stuff just isn't built to last like it used to be. Ngl, that batch you got sounds like a common problem with a lot of products where they rush production and quality control goes out the window. Makes you wonder if they're counting on people just buying replacements sooner instead of making something that holds up.
